12 companies from the Chimimport's portfolio have been awarded as leading employers in Bulgaria

A total of 12 companies, part of the portfolio of the Chimimport public holding, have been awarded in one of the most respectable annual editions of ICAP Bulgaria – Leading Employers in Bulgaria – for 2019. Every year they analyze and present the top 500 companies in Bulgaria. The selected companies are ranked in three categories- by number of employees, by staff growth on an annual basis and by the largest staff in the different sectors.

In the 2019 edition, the presence of Chimimport through some of the largest companies in Bulgaria is again more than significant. Already in the top 50 among all 500 companies is one of the key companies in the portfolio of the public holding – Central Cooperative Bank. It ranks 36th in the ‘by number of employees’ category in 2019, and the revenues cited by the publication on an annual basis amount to BGN 100,145,000.

Lufthansa Technik Sofia is ranked 71st, which employs 1243 people in 2019 (with an increase of 6.97% of new hires compared to the previous year) and records annual revenues of BGN 74,958,000 and profit before interest, taxes, impairment and depreciation (EBITDA) of BGN 8,839,000.

A retail favourite and a DIY chain for home and garden products by the trade name of HomeMax is ranked 173rd. The company employs a total of 724 people, and in 2018 the company generated revenues of BGN 43,247,000.

In the top 200 is another key company Chimimport has a partnership with – Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD, the concessionaire of the airports in Bourgas and Varna. The company is in 178th place, providing jobs to 718 employees in 2019, annual revenues in 2018 amounting to BGN 74,278,000 and EBITDA worth BGN 41,993,000.

One position lower, in 179th place, stands the ship repair yard Odessos AD. It employs a total of 713 employees (2% increase than the previous year), and the generated revenues for the 2018 financial year are BGN 17,567,000 and EBITDA of BGN 2,008,000.

Armeec Insurance Company  also received a well-deserved place in the ranking (282nd place)– the company provides jobs to a total of 530 employees around the country. For the 2018 financial year, the company’s revenue was BGN 64,447,000.

With 480 employees, Assenova krepost AD is 319th. The company’s annual revenue equals BGN 16,060,000 and its 2018 EBITDA is BGN 1,089,000. One position down – 335th, is Exploration and production of oil and gas AD. The company provides jobs for 466 employees, and the generated revenues for 2018 are worth BGN 12,314,000, and according to the ICAP Bulgaria, the profit before fees and taxes amounts to BGN 3,605,000.

Among the top 500 of the leading employers in Bulgaria is the pension-insurance joint-stock company from the Chimimport portfolio– POAD CCB-Sila. It is ranked 364th with a staff of 440 employees. It is also among the companies with the highest growth of new employees, noted by ICAP Bulgaria. For the 2018 financial year, the company's revenues amount to BGN 7,561,000, and the profit before fees and taxes is BGN 3,600,000.

Deserved places in the ranking are also assigned to the national carrier of Bulgaria – Bulgaria Air, which provides jobs to 419 employees in 2019, as well as to Swissport Bulgaria, where 335 employees work.

The data of the publication also show that most of the companies in the portfolio of Chimimport occupy leading positions when looking at individual sectors. In the field of production of refined petroleum products Exploration and production of oil and gas is in second place in terms of number of staff.

In the Manufacture of rubber and plastic products sector Assenova krepost AD is in the top 10, at eighth place, and in Repair and installation of machinery and equipment two of the five companies in the category are from the family of the public holding – Lufthansa Technik Sofia OOD and Odessos Ship Repair Yard AD.

In the Logistics sector, Chimimport is once again an impressive performer as Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD, Bulgaria Air and Swissport Bulgaria are again among the leaders in terms of number of employees.

Also Central Cooperative Bank is in the top 10 in the Banking and Financial Services category, while Armeec JSC and POAD CCB-Sila are among the leaders in the Insurance and pension insurance sector.
